- ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪In early 1984, at 19 years of age, I went in for what was thought to be an appendicitis. I had an appendectomy. Turned out my appendix was fine and exploratory surgery was done. When I woke up, not only did I have the appendectomy incision, but also a huge incision across my abdomen. Nothing was found. I woke up with the same pain I went in with, but now also had 2 incisions. I was put on antibiotics and a week later the pain I had gone in for was gone. The appendectomy was unnecessary, and the exploratory surgery was uncalled for. I have since suffered with an abdominal hernia the size of a football that my GI doctor says will be a "nasty fix" and to just leave alone as long as it does not bother me. Dr. Hanschen was a new surgeon at the time and I believe he cut on me just to practice. Had I known better at the time, I would have sued him for malpractice. If I could rate this doctor at a minus zero I would. I don't recommend this doctor to anyone.November 18, 2017by Laura Wilmas
